Here is a rule of thumb in acoustics for treating a room with absorbent panels:

• 10% Coverage: Noticeable effect. Noticeable improvement in reverberation time.

• 15-20% Coverage: More noticeable improvement. Ideal for restaurants, classrooms, offices, and gyms.

• 20-35% Coverage: Significant acoustic control. Ideal for larger rooms, conference rooms, home theaters, and rehearsal rooms.

• 35% or more coverage: Complete treatment. Recommended for recording studios, mixing rooms, and other critical listening environments.
